I am an abstract artist living and working in Philadelphia. Being a city dweller allows me to explore the urbanscapes sometimes hidden in plain sight. Here, I probe into the dents, cracks, and other ephemera that exist, photograph these gems, and then find joy in giving them life through my work.
I believe that the creative process and self-expression are the most integral parts of a finished product. I recall being a child creating drip sand castles at the beach watching the waves dissolve my creations. I delighted in knowing that the next one would be just as perfect as the last. This pure joy of the creative process quickly took hold.
Now, I pursue a deeper understanding of the creative process through Buddhism and Zen Arts practice where the exploration of meditation has its effect on my creativity. It is through this daily practice that I continue to be informed and inspired by my own creative processes and self-expression.
I connect with the intimate space that occupies my physical and thinking states — my senses in tune with the moment, and the freedom of letting go. It is how I express myself through painting.
